What a shared link carries

When you tap Share, most apps add a token to the link. It connects whoever opens the link to the person who shared it. The post itself never needs it.

si is added by the Share button and ties every open back to that share.

The Chrome extension cleans links where you already are

Three ways to use it. Each one is optional and can be turned on per platform.

Copy from the post

A Clean link button sits next to the platform’s own Share button. Press it and the post’s clean link is on your clipboard.

  • TikTok feeds, Instagram Reels and feed, YouTube videos and Shorts, Facebook feed, groups and Reels.
  • The button reads its own post at the moment you press it. If a layout is unclear, it does not appear.
  • Share keeps working exactly as before.

Open links people send you, clean

Someone sends you a link that still carries their token. With Open links clean on, Chrome removes the token before the page is requested.

  1. You click the link in a chat, an email or another site.
  2. Chrome removes the tracking part. A short or share link is expanded by Linkpolish instead of being opened.
  3. The post opens from its clean address.

Feeds, profiles and logins are never changed. Desktop Chrome only. New in version 1.11.

What Linkpolish does with your links

Nothing to sign up for
No account, no link history, no analytics in the extension.
Direct links stay on your device
A link that already names the post is cleaned in your browser.
Share links are expanded once
TikTok short links and Threads or Facebook share links go to the Linkpolish resolver, which asks the platform where they point. Nothing is logged.

Removing tracking does not make you anonymous: the platform still sees your account when you open a post. Read the privacy policy.
