Features

Every way to
share cleaner.

Linkpolish removes share-tracking parameters from social post links. Use the website on any device, or the Chrome extension to clean links where you already are. Here is exactly what each feature does, what it needs and where it stops.

Website and extension popupEvery platform

Paste & clean

Paste a link on linkpolish.app or in the extension popup and press Clean link. Linkpolish rebuilds the URL from the parts that identify the content — the post, Reel or video ID — and leaves out everything else, then lets you copy the result.

  • Direct links stay on your device. A link that already names the post is cleaned in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere.
  • Short and share links are expanded. A TikTok short link or a Threads or Facebook share link hides the post behind a code. The Linkpolish resolver requests it once from the platform, reads where it points and returns the clean post link.
  • Unsupported links are refused, not guessed. Profiles, pages, search results, Marketplace and playlists are not cleaned.

Current-tab detection

Open the Linkpolish popup while you are on a supported post and the clean link is ready without pasting. On TikTok feeds, the popup reads the post you are looking at. Detection keeps up while the popup stays open and stops when it closes. It uses Chrome’s temporary access to the active tab, so no site permission is needed.

Quick-copy buttons

A small Clean link button beside the platform’s own Share button. Press it and the clean link for that post is copied — no popup, no pasting. Turn it on under Quick-copy buttons in the popup, one platform at a time.

  • Where it appears: TikTok desktop feeds; Instagram Reels and feed; YouTube videos and Shorts; Facebook feed, group and page posts, and Reels.
  • Exact post or nothing. The button reads its own post’s link again at the moment you press it. When a layout is ambiguous — a reshared Facebook post, an ad, a layout Linkpolish does not recognise — no button is shown.
  • Leaves Share alone. The native Share button and menus are never changed.
  • Off by default. Turning a platform on asks Chrome for access to that site. Turning it off removes its buttons and, unless Open links clean still uses the site, its access.

Requires extension v1.8.0 or later on a supported desktop layout; Facebook needs v1.10.0 or later.

Open links clean

Someone sends you a TikTok, Reel or post link that still carries their share token. With Open links clean on, Chrome removes that token before the page is requested — whether you click the link in a chat, an email or another website, or paste it into the address bar.

  1. Tracked post links such as tiktok.com/@user/video/…?_t=…&u_code=… or youtu.be/…?si=… are rewritten inside Chrome. The version with the token is never sent.
  2. Short and share links — vt.tiktok.com/…, threads.com/share/…, facebook.com/share/… — are themselves the token. Linkpolish does not open them. The resolver expands the link and Chrome opens the clean post instead.
  3. If a share link cannot be expanded — it was deleted, is private or the resolver is unavailable — Linkpolish shows a page that explains why and asks before opening the original link.
  • Feeds keep working. Only full page loads of a single post or video that carry a known tracking parameter are changed. Feeds, profiles, search, login pages and navigation inside the platform are left alone.
  • Per platform, off by default. Choose platforms under Open links clean in the popup. Each needs optional access to that site. Quick-copy and Open links clean have separate switches.
  • Desktop Chrome only. Links opened in phone apps, or in another browser, are not affected.
  • Not anonymity. The platform still sees your account, cookies and IP address when you open the post. What it no longer gets from that open is the sharer’s token.

Arrives with extension v1.11.0. Until Chrome shows 1.11.0 at chrome://extensions, this section is not in your popup.

FAQ

Will the person who shared a link know I opened it?

Linkpolish removes the share token from the link before it opens, so that open is not tied to the sharer’s token. It cannot control what the platform learns from your account or your connections, and it does not affect links opened outside desktop Chrome.

Can Linkpolish open private or deleted posts?

No. A clean link is not proof that a post exists or is public. Linkpolish never bypasses logins, private accounts or deleted content.

Why does a share link need the resolver?

A share link such as vt.tiktok.com/… or facebook.com/share/… contains only a code. The post it points to is known only to the platform, so it has to be asked once. The resolver asks from its own server, without your cookies.

Does Open links clean slow down browsing?

No. Chrome applies the rules itself, before a page is requested, and only to tracked single-post links. Share links take one extra step while the resolver expands them.

How do I turn everything off?

Uncheck the platforms in the popup. Linkpolish removes the site access it no longer needs. You can also review site access at chrome://extensions.
